Govt won't let Cosatu blockade borders

The government has indicated that it will take action against the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) should it go ahead with its plan to blockade South Africa's borders to Zimbabwe. Responding to a question on Cosatu's threats that it will mount protests, including the blocking of roads, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, the foreign affairs minister, said such activity would be illegal. Dlamini-Zuma says South Africa will act according to its laws, which prohibit the illegal blocking of borders. Meanwhile, a Cosatu delegation was recently refused entry to Zimbabwe. The delegation of about 20 people had said the mission was a fact-finding one ahead of the March 31 parliamentary elections in that country.
